BETTY'S POLITICAL PATH

Betty's political journey began in 2001 when she volunteered for Congressman Grijalva's first congressional campaign. She was appointed to fill the remaining term of Supervisor Richard Elias after his sudden passing in 2020 and later appointed to the LD 20 seat vacated by Rep. Andres Cano in July 2023. Currently, she is running for election to that seat. Betty is a member of the Democratic Caucus, Latino Caucus, and LGBTQ Caucus, working towards promoting Democratic values such as the right to a healthy environment protecting the right to vote, housing affordability, accessible healthcare, and equal rights.

BETTY'S COMMITTEES

Betty represents you on three important committees.

 

Natural Resources, Energy, and Water.  

Makes recommendations on legislation that involves electrical power, water resources, and wildlife habitat. 

Government

Makes recommendations on legislation that deals with issues such as local control, and state government matters.

Municipal Oversight and Elections

Makes recommendations on the right to vote, proper conduct of elections, and oversight of local government.
